چکیده

The electrical and semiconducting properties of thin anodic passive films potentiostatically formed (1 V ≤ Ef ≤ 5 V vs. sce) on polycrystalline niobium electrodes in aqueous 0.5 mol/L H3PO4 solutions (pH 1.3) were studied, at room temperature, using electrochemical impedance spectroscopy. The data were analysed with a transfer function using a non-linear fitting routine, assuming that the resistance of the film is coupled in series with the faradaic impedance of the Nb(0) → Nb(V) reaction, and these in parallel with the capacitance of the passive film/electrolyte interface. The relative permittivity of the films was estimated as about 44. The number concentration of donors (ND) in the films was found to decrease with Ef (i.e., with increasing film thickness). A flat band potential value of -0.72 V was also obtained from Mott-Schottky plots.

Electrochemical Characterization of a Martensitic Stainless Steel

This paper focused on the characterization of electrochemical behavior of a martensitic stainless steel in the acidic solutions. For this purpose, electrochemical parameters were derived from potentiodynamic polarization, Mott Schottky analysis and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) techniques. The potentiodynamic polarization results showed that corrosion current density of AISI 420 ...

Corrosion Resistance and Semiconducting Properties of the Passive Films on Duplex Stainless Steel 2205

In this study, the effect of molybdate on the electrochemical behavior and semi-conductive properties of duplex stainless steel 2205 passive film at NaCl solutions was investigated. Cyclic potentiodynamic polarization, impedance spectroscopy, mott-schottky plots and scanning electron microscopy (SEM) were used to study the passive behavior. Polarization curves showed that the corrosion current ...

Direct electrochemical response of glucose at nickel-doped diamond like carbon thin film electrodes

Ni-doped diamond like carbon (NiDLC) thin films were deposited on Si substrates by cosputtering a pure Ni target with different DC powers (10, 20, 30, and 40 W) and a pure graphite target with a DC power of about 650 W at room temperature. X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) was used to measure the chemical composition and binding energy of the NiDLC thin films, and the C bonding structures ...

Evaluation of Electrical Breakdown of Anodic Films on Titanium in Phosphate-base Solutions

Titanium is a highly reactive metal so that a thin layer of oxide forms on its surface whenever exposed to the air or other environments containing oxygen. This layer increases the corrosion resistance of titanium. The oxide film is electrochemically formed through anodizing. In this study, anodizing of titanium was performed in phosphate-base solutions such as H3Po4, NaH2Po4, and Na2Hpo4 at 9....
